Co-Curricular Activities

THS Clubs
2009-2010

Meeting Dates:

Most clubs will meet once a month during the school day. Students that are members will receive a pass from the club advisor which will allow the student to leave class to attend the club meeting. Some clubs meet after school; talk to your club advisor to find out specific dates.

Academic Eligibility:

Eligibility for the first term is based on last school years 4th term performance. You are eligible with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA with no "Fs" (Freshman are exempt first term). Students who are academically ineligible will not be excused to class.

Attendance:

Students must be present during the school day in order to participate in school-sponsored functions. This includes after school activities. Students must report to their club on the assigned day and time with a pass. Anyone without a club pass will not be excused from class.

Book Club Szallay 2nd Media Students select 2 high interest level books to read each month. They discuss previously read selections, their authors and writing styles.
Chess Club Frey 3rd A-133 Provide an opportunity for THS students to play the game of chess to improve skill level. All level players are welcome!
Creative Writing Club Nash 4th A-122 Students will share writing done outside of school.

Students will meet for the purpose of preparing to present at the Fed Challenge held in Baltimore.

Leading Ladies Mentoring Club T. Bishop 2nd Cafe

We are a mentoring club for young ladies that provides positive female role models. The Leading Ladies Mentoring Club develops skills for potential leadership roles implementing changes in the lives of young ladies in our community. The Leading Ladies purpose will help young ladies achieve their goals while transitioning into adulthood. The club provides an opportunity for creativity that forms a sisterhood though support, guidance, tutoring, and mentoring recommendations to help improve interpersonal relationships as well as academic performance for success.

National Art Honor Society  Kane/ Reed 3rd A-201 To provide an opportunity for young adults to share their art abilities. Students must meet national criteria.
Necktie Club Chandler 9:40-10:40 B-210 Facilitated by Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. The sole mission of the club is to assist THS in the intellectual development of young men who are historically of disadvantaged populations.
