PSAT Strategy Session
This seminar will teach students valuable test taking strategies for the October 14th PSAT
October 14 7:30am-10:30am
PSAT
All sophomores will take the PSAT (unless written parent exemption notes are returned)
Juniors are strongly encouraged to register and pay $13 in Guidance prior to October 6, 2009
January 19 7:30am-12 noon
ACT/SAT Diagnostic Test
Students will be given a opportunity to take a practice combination ACT and SAT. This will be a
shortened version of both tests. The cost will be $5 and students must register by January 12, 2010.
March 1 7:30am-10:30am
ASVAB
Students will have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
This is an excellent career exploration test for juniors.
March 31 7:30am-12 noon
SAT Diagnostic Test
Students will have the opportunity to take a practice SAT. The cost will be $5 and students must
register by March 20, 2010.
The THS Guidance Counselors invite all THS students and their parents to the following programs.
All programs will be held at THS auditorium at 7PM.

October 15
(snow date: October 22) College Admissions Process: The admission and application process to colleges and universities will
be presented by an admission counselor from Hood College.
October 29 How to Afford College: Dr. Herm Davis, a nationally acclaimed college financial expert will explain how
to complete financial aid forms to get money for college.
November 19 Financial Aid: The college financial aid process will be defined and explained by a financial aid official from
Mount St. Mary's University. A representative from Frederick Community Foundation
will present community scholarship opportunities.
December 17
(snow date: January 7) PSAT Scores-Back Session/College Panel: The results from your PSAT (Taken October 14) will
be returned. The THS Guidance Staff will be presenting the
process of interpretation. This is a very important program
for all sophomores and juniors who took the PSAT.
College Panel: Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors - THS Alumnae and Guidance Staff will share college experiences
and expectations to assist in your academic preparation.
January 28
(snow date: February 11) Career and Technology Center (CTC)/2009-2010 Registration: Representatives from the Career and
Technology Center, the Teaching Academy,
The International Baccalaureate Program and
the Arts and Communication Academy will pre-
sent their programs.
February 4
(snow date: February 18) ACT/SAT Scores Back Session: The results from your diagnostic ACT/SAT (taken january 19) will
be returned. A counselor from Kaplan will be presenting the process
of interpretation and analysis of your scores.
March 18 How to Pay for College: Dr. Herm Davis, a nationally acclaimed college financial aid expert, will explain
to students and parents how to afford college regardless of the econmy.
April 8 SAT Scores Back Session: The results from your diagnostic SAT (taken March 31) will be returned
A counselor from Princeton Review will be presenting the process of inter-
pretation and analysis of your scores.
